History

Lovington was founded in 1854 by William Loving, a settler from Kentucky. The village was incorporated in 1858.
The village was named after William Loving, who was the first settler in the area. He was a farmer and a blacksmith. He built the first house in the area in 1854.

The village was originally known as Loving s Town and was later changed to Lovington

Economy

Lovington is a small rural village with a population of 1,845. The village is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a restaurant, and a bank.
The village is also home to a number of manufacturing companies, including a plastics manufacturer, a metal fabricator, and a machine shop.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,527.2 people per square mile (589.3/km2).
