Loami Summary

Loami is a small village located in Sangamon County, Illinois. It is situated about 10 miles south of Springfield, the state capital. The village has a population of 1,092 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

Loami was founded in 1836 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the nearby Loami Creek, which was named after a Native American chief. The first post office was established in 1837.
