Kansas Summary

Kansas, Illinois is a small village located in the northeastern corner of the state of Illinois. It is situated in the county of Iroquois, and is part of the Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located about 30 miles south of Chicago.

History

The area that is now known as Kansas, Illinois was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The settlers named the area after the state of Kentucky, and the name was later changed to Kansas. The village was officially incorporated in 1854.
In the late 1800s, the village was a thriving agricultural community, with many farms and businesses. The village was also home to a number of churches, schools, and other businesses.
