Fisher Summary

Fisher, Illinois is a small village located in Champaign County, Illinois. It is situated about 10 miles south of Champaign and about 20 miles north of Danville. The population of Fisher was 1,890 at the 2010 census.
Fisher was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The village was named after one of the settlers, John Fisher. The village was incorporated in 1872.

Geography

Fisher is located at 40°7'25"N 88°14'25"W (40.123611, -88.240278). According to the 2010 census, Fisher has a total area of 1.02 square miles (2.64 km2), all land.

Economy

Fisher is a small rural community with a strong agricultural base. The village is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a restaurant, and a bank. The village also has a post office and a library.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,890 people, 745 households, and 517 families residing in Fisher. The population density was 1,851.2 people per square mile (715.3/km2). There were 809 housing units at an average density of 790.2 per square mile (305.3/km2).
