Farmersville is a small village located in Montgomery County, Illinois, United States. It is situated on the banks of the Sangamon River, approximately 25 miles northeast of Springfield. The population was 545 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Farmersville was first settled in 1820 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The village was originally known as "Hickory Point" and was later renamed "Farmersville" in 1837. The village was officially incorporated in 1867.
The village was a major stop on the Illinois Central Railroad, which ran through the area from 1854 to 1971. The railroad was a major factor in the growth of the village, as it allowed for the transportation of goods and people.

Farmersville is located at 39°45'25"N 89°25'45"W (39.756944, -89.429167). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all land.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.1% of the population.
There were 212 households, out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.3% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.5% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.17.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.
