Durand Summary

Durand, Illinois is a small village located in Winnebago County, Illinois. It is situated on the banks of the Rock River, about 25 miles northwest of Rockford. The village has a population of approximately 2,500 people and covers an area of 1.3 square miles.

History

Durand was founded in 1837 by William Durand, a settler from New York. He purchased the land from the government and began to develop the area. The village was incorporated in 1867 and was named after William Durand.
