Chandlerville is a small village located in Cass County, Illinois, United States. The population was 545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Chandlerville was founded in 1836 by William Chandler, a settler from Kentucky. The village was named after him. The first post office was established in 1837. The village was incorporated in 1872.
Geography
Chandlerville is located at 39°51'45" North, 90°14'45" West (39.8624, -90.2458). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all land.
Economy
The economy of Chandlerville is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several farms, as well as a few small businesses. The village also has a few restaurants and convenience stores.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 545 people, 212 households, and 149 families residing in the village. The population density was 890.3 people per square mile (344.3/km2). There were 224 housing units at an average density of 365.2 per square mile (141.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.18% White, 0.37% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.37% Asian, and 0.92% from two or more races.
