History

Caledonia was founded in 1836 by settlers from Scotland. The village was named after the ancient Roman province of Caledonia, which was located in modern-day Scotland. The village was originally a farming community, and the first settlers grew wheat, corn, and other crops. The village was also home to a number of small businesses, including a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.
