Bismarck Summary

Bismarck is a small village located in the state of Illinois, in the United States. It is located in the south-central part of the state, in the county of Macon. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is part of the Decatur Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Bismarck was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as “Bismarck”, after the German chancellor Otto von Bismarck. The village was officially incorporated in 1872.
In the late 1800s, the village was a thriving agricultural community, with many farms and businesses. The village was also home to a number of churches, including the German Lutheran Church, which was founded in 1876.
In the early 1900s, the village began to experience a decline in population, as many of the residents moved away to larger cities. The village was also affected by the Great Depression, and many of the businesses closed.
