Hato Candal is a municipality located in the northern region of Puerto Rico. It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The municipality is situated in the northern part of the island, in the foothills of the Cordillera Central mountain range. It is bordered by the municipalities of San Lorenzo, Toa Alta, Toa Baja, and Vega Alta. As of the 2010 census, the population of Hato Candal was 8,845.

Geography

Hato Candal is located in the northern region of Puerto Rico, in the foothills of the Cordillera Central mountain range. It is bordered by the municipalities of San Lorenzo, Toa Alta, Toa Baja, and Vega Alta. The municipality covers an area of approximately 11.5 square miles (30 km2). The terrain is mostly hilly, with some flat areas in the lower elevations. The highest point in the municipality is Cerro La Punta, which rises to an elevation of 1,890 feet (576 m).

Climate

Hato Candal has a tropical climate, with temperatures ranging from an average low of 70°F (21°C) in the winter to an average high of 90°F (32°C) in the summer. The average annual precipitation is approximately 50 inches (127 cm).

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, the population of Hato Candal was 8,845. The population is predominantly of Hispanic origin, with a small minority of African-American and other ethnicities.
