Spencer Summary

Spencer, Ohio is a small village located in Medina County, Ohio. It is situated in the northeast corner of the county, approximately 25 miles south of Cleveland. The village has a population of approximately 1,500 people and covers an area of 1.2 square miles.

History

Spencer was founded in 1818 by a group of settlers from Connecticut. The village was named after the Spencer family, who were among the first settlers. The village was originally a farming community, but in the late 19th century, it became a manufacturing center. The village was home to several factories, including a woolen mill, a paper mill, and a brickyard.
