Shreve Summary
Shreve is a village located in Wayne County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,541 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wooster, Ohio Micropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Shreve was founded in 1815 by John Shreve, a Revolutionary War veteran. The village was originally known as Shreve's Station, and was a stop on the Underground Railroad. The village was incorporated in 1867.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,541 people, 617 households, and 431 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,093.3 people per square mile (809.2/km2). There were 645 housing units at an average density of 876.2 per square mile (339.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.45% White, 0.26% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.19% from other races, and 0.84% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.58% of the population.
There were 617 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% were non-families. 26.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.
