New Waterford Summary

Waterford, Ohio is a small village located in Columbiana County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Mahoning River, approximately 25 miles south of Youngstown. The village was founded in 1806 by a group of settlers from New England, and was originally known as New Waterford. The village was named after Waterford, Ireland, and was incorporated in 1837.

Geography

Waterford is located at 40°51'N, 80°45'W (40.85, -80.75). The village has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of which is land. The village is situated on the banks of the Mahoning River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland.

Demographics

As of the 2000 census, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 305 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,541.2 people per square mile. There were 471 housing units at an average density of 667.3 per square mile. The racial makeup of the village was 98.54% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.
