Canal Fulton is a city located in Stark County, Ohio, United States. It is situated along the Tuscarawas River, approximately 25 miles south of Akron and 15 miles north of Canton. The population was 5,479 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Canal Fulton was first settled in 1811 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The settlement was originally known as Newburgh, but was later renamed Canal Fulton in 1828 after the Ohio and Erie Canal was built through the area. The canal was a major factor in the growth of the city, as it allowed for the transportation of goods and people.
The city was incorporated in 1837 and was home to a variety of industries, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a woolen mill, and a paper mill. The city was also home to a number of churches, including the First Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1837.
In the late 19th century, the city was home to a number of manufacturing companies, including the Canal Fulton Glass Company, which produced glassware from 1891 to 1921. The city was also home to the Canal Fulton Brick Company, which produced bricks from 1891 to 1921.

The city is home to a number of manufacturing companies, including the Canal Fulton Glass Company, which produces glassware, and the Canal Fulton Brick Company, which produces bricks. The city is also home to a number of retail stores, including a Walmart Supercenter, a Lowe's Home Improvement store, and a variety of other stores.

As of the 2010 census, there were 5,479 people, 2,093 households, and 1,427 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,303.2 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 94.2% White, 2.2% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
There were 2,093 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.7% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.3 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $41,944, and the median income for a family was $50,938. Males had a median income of $37,917 versus $25,917 for females.
