Bolivar is a village located in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Philadelphia-Dover, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.

History

Bolivar was founded in 1815 by John Bolivar, a Revolutionary War veteran. The village was originally known as Bolivarville, but the name was changed to Bolivar in 1837.

The village was incorporated in 1845
