Amsterdam Summary

Amsterdam is a city located in Montgomery County, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 8,902 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Amsterdam was first settled in 1804 by a group of German immigrants. The town was originally called German Town, but was later changed to Amsterdam in 1817. The town was incorporated in 1837.
