Trimont Summary

Trimont is a small city located in Martin County, Minnesota. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the state, approximately 30 miles from the Iowa border. The city has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Mankato-North Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Trimont was founded in 1881 by a group of settlers from Sweden. The city was named after the Swedish word for “three mountains”, which is a reference to the three hills that surround the city. The settlers were attracted to the area due to its fertile soil and abundant natural resources.
