History

Maple Lake was first settled in 1855 by a group of German immigrants. The city was named after the nearby lake, which was named for the abundance of maple trees that grew around it. The city was incorporated in 1887.

Geography

Maple Lake is located at the intersection of Interstate 94 and Minnesota State Highway 55. It is situated on the western shore of Maple Lake, which is part of the Crow River watershed. The city is located approximately 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis and 25 miles east of St. Cloud.
