Le Roy Summary

Le Roy is a small city located in Mower County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin, Minnesota Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Le Roy was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from New York. The town was named after Le Roy, New York, the hometown of the settlers. The first post office was established in 1857. The town was incorporated in 1876.

Geography

Le Roy is located at 43°45′N 92°48′W (43.75, -92.80). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.

Economy

Le Roy's economy is largely based on agriculture. The city is home to several farms, including a large dairy farm. The city also has a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.

Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,539.2 people per square mile (593.7/km2).
