Grove City Summary

Grove City, Minnesota is a small city located in Meeker County, Minnesota. It is situated on the banks of the Crow River, approximately 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis. The city has a population of 1,845 as of the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Grove City was first settled in 1856 by a group of German immigrants. The town was originally named “New Germany”, but was later changed to Grove City in 1872. The name was chosen to honor the groves of trees that surrounded the area.
The city was officially incorporated in 1887. At the time, the city was a small farming community, with a population of just over 500. The city grew slowly over the next few decades, and by the 1950s, the population had grown to 1,200.

Geography

Grove City is located in Meeker County, Minnesota. It is situated on the banks of the Crow River, approximately 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis. The city has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land.
