Greenbush Summary

History

The small town of Greenbush, Minnesota is located in Roseau County, in the northwestern part of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Red River, near the Canadian border. The town was founded in 1881 by a group of Norwegian immigrants who had come to the area to homestead. The town was named after the nearby Greenbush River, which was named for the abundance of green bushes that grew along its banks.
The town grew slowly but steadily over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving community. The town was home to a variety of businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, a bank, and a lumber mill. The town also had a school, a post office, and a church.
In the early 1900s, the town was also home to a large number of immigrants from Norway, Sweden, and Finland. These immigrants brought with them their own culture and traditions, which still influence the town today.
