Glenville Summary

Glenville, Minnesota is a small town located in Freeborn County, in the southeastern corner of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Shell Rock River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town has a population of just over 500 people, and is known for its small-town charm and friendly atmosphere.

History

Glenville was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from New York. The town was named after the nearby Glenville Township, which was named after the Glenville family who had settled in the area in the early 1800s. The town was originally a farming community, and the first settlers built a sawmill and gristmill to help support the local economy.
In the late 1800s, the town began to grow and prosper. The railroad came to town in 1887, and the town was incorporated in 1891. The railroad brought new businesses and industries to the area, and the town began to grow and develop.

Geography

Glenville is located in Freeborn County, in the southeastern corner of Minnesota. It is situated on the banks of the Shell Rock River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town is located about 25 miles from the Iowa border, and is about an hour and a half drive from the Twin Cities.
The town has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. The town is located at an elevation of 1,072 feet above sea level. The climate in Glenville is typical of the Midwest, with cold winters and hot summers.
