Donnelly Summary

Donnelly is a small city located in the state of Minnesota, in the United States of America. It is located in the western part of the state, in the county of Stevens. The city has a population of approximately 590 people, according to the 2010 census.

Geography

Donnelly is located in the western part of Minnesota, in the county of Stevens. It is situated on the banks of the Chippewa River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and forests. The city is located about 30 miles from the city of Alexandria, and about 50 miles from the city of St. Cloud. The city is located at an elevation of 1,068 feet above sea level.

History

Donnelly was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from Norway. The settlers named the city after their leader, John Donnelly. The city was incorporated in 1887, and the first post office was established in 1888. The city grew slowly, and by the early 1900s, it had a population of about 500 people.
In the early 1900s, the city was a major center for the lumber industry. The city was also home to a number of small businesses, including a flour mill, a creamery, and a sawmill. The city also had a number of churches, including a Lutheran church, a Methodist church, and a Catholic church.
In the 1950s, the city began to decline, as the lumber industry moved away and the population began to decline. The city was hit hard by the Great Depression, and many of the businesses in the city closed. The city continued to decline until the late 1970s, when the city began to experience a resurgence.
