Clara City is a city located in Chippewa County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Chippewa County.

History

Clara City was founded in 1872 by a group of settlers from Sweden. The city was named after Clara Anderson, the daughter of one of the settlers. The city was incorporated in 1887.

Geography

Clara City is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 59 and Minnesota State Highway 23. It is situated on the banks of the Chippewa River. The city has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land.

Clara City is a small agricultural community. The city is home to several businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a bank, and a few restaurants. The city also has a small industrial park.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,539.2 people per square mile.
