Bird Island Summary

Bird Island is a small city located in Renville County, Minnesota. It is situated in the west-central part of the state, about 90 miles west of Minneapolis. The city has a population of 1,072 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

Bird Island was founded in 1871 by a group of German immigrants. The city was named after the large number of birds that inhabited the area. The first settlers were farmers, and the city quickly grew as more people moved to the area. By the early 1900s, the city had become a thriving agricultural center.
