Belview Summary

Belview, Minnesota is a small city located in Redwood County, in the southwestern part of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Minnesota River, about 25 miles northwest of Mankato. The city has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is part of the greater Mankato-North Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Belview was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Wisconsin. The city was named after the nearby Belview Creek, which was named after the nearby Belleview Hotel. The hotel was built in 1868 by a man named John B. Smith, who was the first settler in the area.
The city was incorporated in 1887, and the first mayor was John B. Smith. The city grew slowly, but steadily, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving agricultural community. The city was home to several businesses, including a flour mill, a creamery, a sawmill, and a blacksmith shop.

Geography

Belview is located in southwestern Minnesota, in Redwood County. It is situated on the banks of the Minnesota River, about 25 miles northwest of Mankato. The city has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. The terrain is mostly flat, with some rolling hills in the area.
