Ashby Summary

Ashby, Minnesota is a small city located in Grant County, in the western part of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Otter Tail River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The city has a population of just over 1,000 people, and is known for its small-town charm and friendly atmosphere.

History

The area that is now Ashby was first settled in the late 1800s by Norwegian immigrants. The first settlers were attracted to the area by the abundance of timber and the potential for farming. The first post office was established in 1883, and the town was officially incorporated in 1887.
The city was named after the Ashby family, who were among the first settlers in the area. The Ashbys were a prominent family in the area, and their descendants still live in the area today.
