Woodstock Summary

Woodstock, Ohio is a small village located in the southeastern corner of Muskingum County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Muskingum River, approximately 25 miles east of Zanesville. The village was founded in 1817 and has a population of approximately 1,000 people.

History

Woodstock was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was named after the town of Woodstock, Connecticut, which was the birthplace of one of the settlers. The village was originally a farming community, but it soon became a center for the lumber industry. The lumber industry was the main source of income for the village until the early 1900s, when the industry began to decline.
In the late 1800s, the village was home to a number of small businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store. The village also had a post office, a school, and a church.
