Williamsport Summary

Williamsport, Ohio is a small village located in the southeastern corner of the state, in the county of Pickaway. It is situated on the banks of the Scioto River, and is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is home to a variety of businesses, including a few small manufacturing companies.

History

Williamsport was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was named after William Lytle, who was one of the original settlers. The village was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were corn, wheat, and oats. In the late 1800s, the village began to grow and develop, and several businesses were established. The first post office was established in 1837, and the first school was built in 1845.
In the early 1900s, the village began to experience a period of growth and development. Several new businesses were established, including a flour mill, a sawmill, and a brickyard.
