Waynesfield is a village located in Auglaize County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,092 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wapakoneta, Ohio Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Waynesfield was founded in 1837 by John Wayne, a Revolutionary War veteran. The village was named after him. The first post office was established in 1838. The village was incorporated in 1875.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,092 people, 431 households, and 305 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,845.2 people per square mile (715.2/km2). There were 463 housing units at an average density of 776.3 per square mile (299.9/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.90% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 0.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.
There were 431 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.06.
