Warsaw Summary

Warsaw, Ohio is a small village located in Coshocton County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Tuscarawas River, approximately 30 miles east of the city of Canton. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the larger Coshocton Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Warsaw was first settled in 1811 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was originally known as “New Philadelphia” and was later renamed “Warsaw” in 1817. The name was chosen in honor of the Polish city of Warsaw, which was the birthplace of one of the settlers.
The village was incorporated in 1837 and was home to a variety of industries, including a sawmill, a gristmill, a woolen mill, and a tannery. The village also had a post office, a bank, and a newspaper.
In the late 19th century, Warsaw was a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Tuscarawas River. The village was also home to a number of resorts, including the Warsaw Hotel, which was built in 1891.

Geography

Warsaw is located in Coshocton County, Ohio, approximately 30 miles east of the city of Canton. The village is situated on the banks of the Tuscarawas River and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village is located at an elevation of 845 feet above sea level.
