Syracuse Summary

Syracuse is a small village located in the northwest corner of Ohio, in Sandusky County. It is situated on the banks of the Sandusky River, and is surrounded by the towns of Woodville, Fremont, and Gibsonburg. The village has a population of 1,845 people, according to the 2010 census.

Syracuse was founded in 1833 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the city of Syracuse, New York, and was originally known as “Syracuse Station”. The village was incorporated in 1854, and the first post office was established in 1855.
