Summerfield Summary

History

The small village of Summerfield, Ohio is located in the southeastern corner of the state, in Noble County. It was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania, who were looking for a place to settle and start a new life. The village was named after the Summerfield family, who were among the first settlers.

The first settlers of Summerfield were mostly farmers, and the village quickly grew to become a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to a variety of crops, including corn, wheat, oats, and hay. In addition to farming, the village also had a sawmill, a gristmill, and a blacksmith shop.

In the late 1800s, the village began to experience a period of growth and prosperity. The railroad came to Summerfield in 1881, and the village soon became a hub for the surrounding area. The railroad brought new businesses and industries to the village, and the population began to grow.

By the early 1900s, Summerfield had become a bustling small town. The village had a variety of stores, including a general store, a hardware store, and a drug store. The village also had a bank, a post office, and a hotel.
