Stryker Summary

Stryker, Ohio is a small village located in Williams County in the northwestern part of the state. It is situated on the banks of the St. Joseph River and is part of the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a population of 1,845 as of the 2010 census.

History

Stryker was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was named after a local Native American chief, Chief Stryker. The first post office was established in 1838 and the village was incorporated in 1867.
The village was a major stop on the Wabash and Erie Canal, which ran through the area from 1843 to 1874. The canal was a major transportation route for goods and people, and it helped to spur the growth of the village.
The village was also home to a number of industries, including a flour mill, a sawmill, a grist mill, a woolen mill, and a brickyard. These industries helped to make Stryker a prosperous community.

Geography

Stryker is located at 41°25'N 84°25'W (41.4167, -84.4167). The village is situated on the banks of the St. Joseph River and is part of the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area.
