Sherrodsville Summary

Sherrodsville, Ohio is a small village located in the northeastern part of the state, in Tuscarawas County. It is situated along the Tuscarawas River, and is part of the Dover, Ohio Micropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a population of approximately 500 people, and is home to a variety of businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a restaurant, and a few other small businesses.

History

Sherrodsville was founded in 1817 by John Sherrod, a Revolutionary War veteran who had moved to the area from Pennsylvania. He purchased a large tract of land and built a log cabin on the site, which he named Sherrodsville. The village was officially incorporated in 1837, and the first post office was established in 1845.
The village grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving community. The village was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, and a grist mill. The village also had a school, a church, and a few other small businesses.

Geography

Sherrodsville is located in northeastern Ohio, in Tuscarawas County. It is situated along the Tuscarawas River, and is part of the Dover, Ohio Micropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land.
