Russellville Summary

Russellville, Ohio is a small village located in the southeastern corner of Brown County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Little Miami River, and is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is home to a variety of businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a bank, and a post office.

History

The area that is now Russellville was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The village was originally known as “Rice’s Station”, after the first settler, William Rice. The village was renamed Russellville in 1837, after the first postmaster, William Russell.
In the late 1800s, Russellville was a thriving agricultural community, with a variety of crops being grown in the area. The village was also home to a number of small businesses, including a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a grist mill.
In the early 1900s, the village began to decline, as many of the businesses closed and the population began to dwindle. However, in the late 1940s, the village began to experience a resurgence, as new businesses opened and the population began to grow.

Geography

Russellville is located in the southeastern corner of Brown County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Little Miami River, and is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The village is located approximately 25 miles east of Cincinnati, and is bordered by the towns of Aberdeen, Higginsport, and Georgetown.
