North Robinson Summary

Robinson, Ohio is a small village located in Crawford County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Sandusky River, approximately 10 miles south of Bucyrus. The village was founded in 1837 and was named after the Robinson family, who were early settlers in the area. The population of Robinson was 1,093 at the 2000 census.

Robinson was founded in 1837 by the Robinson family, who were early settlers in the area. The village was originally known as Robinson’s Station, and was a stop on the Underground Railroad. The village was incorporated in 1867.
In the late 19th century, Robinson was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several mills, including a grist mill, a saw mill, and a woolen mill. The village also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.

Geography

Robinson is located at 40°37'17" North, 82°59'45" West (40.6214, -82.9958). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all land.

Economy

Robinson’s economy is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several farms, including a dairy farm, a beef farm, and a poultry farm. The village also has a few small businesses, including a gas station, a grocery store, and a hardware store.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 305 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,817.2 people per square mile (701.2/km2). There were 471 housing units at an average density of 776.2 per square mile (299.7/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.54% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $33,750, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,945.
