New Knoxville is a village located in Auglaize County, Ohio. It was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Knoxville, Tennessee. The village was originally known as “Knoxville”, but the name was changed to “New Knoxville” in 1845 to avoid confusion with the original Knoxville. The village was incorporated in 1876.
The village was originally a farming community, but it soon developed into a manufacturing center. The first industry to be established in the village was a sawmill, which was built in 1845.
