Mount Blanchard Summary

Mount Blanchard is a village located in Hancock County, Ohio, United States. The population was 545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Findlay, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Mount Blanchard was founded in 1835 by John Blanchard, a Revolutionary War veteran. The village was named after him. The first post office was established in 1837. The village was incorporated in 1867.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 545 people, 213 households, and 155 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,845.2 people per square mile (717.2/km2). There were 224 housing units at an average density of 754.2 per square mile (292.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.18% White, 0.18% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.37% from other races, and 0.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.73% of the population.
There were 213 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 24.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
