Milford Center Summary

Milford Center is a small village located in Union County, Ohio, United States. The village is situated along the Big Darby Creek, approximately 10 miles northwest of Marysville, the county seat. As of the 2010 census, the village had a population of 545.

History

The area that is now Milford Center was first settled in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was originally known as Milford, and was platted in 1835. The village was renamed Milford Center in 1837.
The village was incorporated in 1867, and the first mayor was elected in 1868. The village was a popular stop on the stagecoach route between Columbus and Bellefontaine.

Geography

Milford Center is located at 40°17'25" North, 83°30'45" West (40.290278, -83.5125). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 545 people, 206 households, and 152 families residing in the village. The population density was 890.2 people per square mile (344.7/km²). There were 218 housing units at an average density of 358.2 per square mile (138.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.90% White, 0.18% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.18% Asian, and 0.55% from two or more races.
