Milford Center Summary
Milford Center is a small village located in Union County, Ohio, United States. The village is situated along the Big Darby Creek, approximately 10 miles northwest of Marysville, the county seat. As of the 2010 census, the village had a population of 545.
History
The area that is now Milford Center was first settled in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was originally known as Milford, and was platted in 1835. The village was renamed Milford Center in 1837.
The village was incorporated in 1867, and the first mayor was elected in 1868. The village was a popular stop on the stagecoach route between Columbus and Bellefontaine.
Geography
Milford Center is located at 40°17'25" North, 83°30'45" West (40.290278, -83.5125). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of it land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 545 people, 206 households, and 152 families residing in the village. The population density was 890.2 people per square mile (344.7/km²). There were 218 housing units at an average density of 358.2 per square mile (138.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.90% White, 0.18% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.18% Asian, and 0.55% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.18% of the population.
There were 206 households, out of which 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.7% were married couples living together, 9.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.14.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,845. About 4.2% of families and 5.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.3% of those under age 18 and 5.3% of those age 65 or over.

The economy of Milford Center is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several farms, as well as a few small businesses. The village is also home to a few manufacturing companies, including a plastics manufacturer and a metal fabrication company.
The village is served by the Milford Center Post Office, and is located within the Marysville Exempted Village School District. The village is also home to the Milford Center United Methodist Church.
