Metamora was founded in 1836 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was named after the nearby Metamora Township, which was named after the fictional town of Metamora in the play Metamora; or, The Last of the Wampanoags by John Augustus Stone. The village was incorporated in 1854.

Metamora is located at 41°25'N, 84°2'W (41.4167, -84.0333). The village has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of which is land. The Maumee River runs through the village, and there are several small creeks and streams in the area.

Climate

Metamora has a humid continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. The average annual temperature is 50°F (10°C), and the average annual precipitation is 36 inches (91 cm).

Economy

Metamora's economy is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several farms, and the surrounding area is known for its production of corn, soybeans, and wheat. The village also has a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.
