Martinsville Summary

Martinsville, Ohio is a small village located in the southeastern part of the state, in Highland County. It is situated on the banks of the Little Miami River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village has a population of just over 1,000 people, and is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area.

History

Martinsville was founded in 1817 by John Martin, a Revolutionary War veteran. He purchased the land from the government and named it after himself. The village was incorporated in 1837, and the first post office was established in 1845.
