Lindsey Summary

Lindsey, Ohio is a small village located in Sandusky County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Sandusky River, approximately 10 miles south of Fremont. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Fremont Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Lindsey was first settled in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was originally known as “Fremont”, but was later renamed “Lindsey” in honor of a local resident, John Lindsey. The village was officially incorporated in 1867.
In the late 19th century, Lindsey was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several grain mills, a sawmill, a grist mill, and a cider mill. The village also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.

Geography

Lindsey is located in Sandusky County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Sandusky River, approximately 10 miles south of Fremont. The village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land.
The village is located in a rural area, with the nearest major city being Toledo, which is approximately 40 miles away. The village is also located near several state parks, including Maumee Bay State Park, East Harbor State Park, and Marblehead Lighthouse State Park.
