Clarington Summary

Clarington, Ohio is a small village located in Muskingum County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Muskingum River, approximately 25 miles east of Zanesville. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Zanesville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Clarington was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was named after the Clarington family, who were among the first settlers. The Clarington family was originally from Scotland and had immigrated to the United States in the late 1700s. The village was originally a farming community, but it soon became a center for the production of pottery and glassware. The village was also home to a number of mills, including a sawmill, a gristmill, and a woolen mill.
In the late 1800s, the village began to experience a period of growth and prosperity. The population increased from just over 500 in 1880 to nearly 1,000 by 1900. The village was home to a number of businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a general store, and a post office. The village also had a number of churches, including the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Presbyterian Church, and the United Brethren Church.

Clarington is located in Muskingum County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Muskingum River, approximately 25 miles east of Zanesville.
