Cardington Summary

Cardington, Ohio is a small village located in Morrow County, Ohio. It is situated along the banks of the Olentangy River, approximately 30 miles north of Columbus. The village has a population of approximately 2,000 people and is part of the Cardington-Lincoln Local School District.

History

Cardington was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Connecticut. The village was named after Cardington, England, the hometown of one of the settlers. The village was incorporated in 1837 and was the first village in Morrow County.
In the early days, Cardington was a farming community. The village was known for its production of wheat, corn, and other grains. The village also had a number of mills, including a grist mill, a saw mill, and a woolen mill.
In the late 19th century, the village began to grow and develop. The railroad arrived in 1881, connecting Cardington to other towns and cities in the region. This allowed for the growth of industry and commerce in the village.

Geography

Cardington is located in central Ohio, approximately 30 miles north of Columbus. The village is situated along the banks of the Olentangy River. The village is surrounded by farmland and is located in the heart of the Black Swamp region.
