Aristes is located at 40°51'45" North, 76°25'45" West (40.8625, -76.4292). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), all of it land.

History

Aristes was founded in 1876 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Catawissa. The name of the borough is derived from the Greek word for "best," and was chosen to reflect the settlers' belief that their new home was the best place to live.

The first post office in Aristes was established in 1877, and the first school was built in 1878. The first church was built in 1881, and the first newspaper was established in 1883.

Aristes is a small, rural community with a limited economy. The primary industries in the area are agriculture and tourism. The borough is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.
