Vega Summary

Vega is a small town located in the Texas Panhandle, in Oldham County, Texas. It is situated on the western edge of the Llano Estacado, a vast area of flat, dry land that stretches from the Texas-New Mexico border to the Texas-Oklahoma border. The town was founded in 1881 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Mobeetie, and was named after the nearby Vega Creek.
