Malakoff is a small city located in Henderson County, Texas, United States. It is situated on the banks of Cedar Creek Reservoir, about 25 miles southeast of Athens. The population was 2,094 at the 2010 census.

History

Malakoff was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Tennessee. The town was named after the Battle of Malakoff, which was fought during the Crimean War. The town was incorporated in 1891 and was a thriving community by the early 1900s. The town was home to several businesses, including a cotton gin, a grist mill, a sawmill, and a blacksmith shop.
