Holliday Summary

Holliday is a small town located in Archer County, Texas, United States. It is situated about 20 miles south of Wichita Falls and about 10 miles north of Archer City. The population of Holliday was 545 at the 2010 census.

History

Holliday was founded in 1881 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The town was named after the Holliday family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally located on the banks of the Wichita River, but was moved to its current location in 1883 when the railroad was built.
The town grew rapidly in the late 19th century, and by the early 20th century, it had become a thriving agricultural and commercial center. The town was home to several businesses, including a cotton gin, a flour mill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.
In the early 20th century, the town was also home to a number of churches, including the First Baptist Church, the First Methodist Church, and the First Christian Church.
