History

The area that is now Cibolo was originally inhabited by the Coahuiltecan Indians. The first European settlers arrived in the area in the early 1800s. The first settlers were German immigrants who established a farming community in the area. The town was officially founded in 1879 and was named after the Cibolo Creek, which runs through the city.
In the late 1800s, the town began to grow and develop. The first school was built in 1883 and the first post office was established in 1884. The town was incorporated in 1965.

Cibolo is located in Guadalupe and Bexar counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is part of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. The city is situated on the Cibolo Creek, which runs through the city. The city has a total area of 8.3 square miles, of which 8.2 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles is water.

Cibolo has a diverse economy that is driven by a variety of industries. The city is home to several large employers, including Schlumberger, Cibolo Creek Ranch, and the Cibolo Creek Country Club. The racial makeup of the city was 75.3% White, 8.2% African American, 0.5% Native American, 1.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 11.7% from other races, and 3.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 33.2% of the population.
